The Friends of the Catskill Mountain Rail Trail coalition was distressed to learn through media reports that equipment owned and operated by Catskill Mountain Railroad was vandalized.
While we stand on opposite sides of a policy debate related to the undesignated section of the Ulster & Delaware Corridor, we do not condone vandalism, violence or threats toward the company or any individual.
We were pleased to read that the situation was reported to law enforcement, and we look forward to learning that the perpetrator is apprehended. Again, as we have stated multiple times, we encourage respectful political engagement as the county legislature moves forward with its discussions and eventual policy decision.
