The next meeting of the Ulster County Legislature’s U&D Corridor Advisory Committee is scheduled for 2:00pm on Thursday, May 8th, 2025. The meeting will be held in the Legislative Chambers on the 6th floor of the County Office Building, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, NY.
At this meeting we expect the committee to take up the compromise proposal first proposed by Legislator Jeff Collins, which would create a trail-rail interconnect at MP 8.33, just west of Route 28A. This is a reasonable compromise that supports the continued success of the Catskill Mountain Railroad’s tourist trains by providing a destination with parking and other amenities. It also preserves trail connectivity by extending the Ashokan Rail Trail 1.7 miles towards Kingston, through a section that engineers have determined is too narrow to accommodate both rail and trail.
